Dave Carothers San Diego Attorney Lawyer

Dave Carothers

OF COUNSEL

Dave Carothers is a San Diego trial attorney with over 30 years of experience and more than 100 jury trials conducted in jurisdictions throughout California. He has successfully litigated claims of wrongful termination, sexual harassment, breach of contract, Americans with Disabilities Act, wage and hour violations, and discrimination. In many of these cases, he negotiated settlements on behalf of employers and employees, avoiding the expensive cost and time of a trial. He has also acted as lead trial counsel in large complex actions representing clients in class actions, coordinated actions, and representative actions involving hundreds of claimants.

In 2008, Former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed Dave as a Commissioner to the California Fair Employment and Housing Commission where he served three years as a Commissioner and was involved in the revision of the State’s pregnancy discrimination statutes. Also as a Commissioner, Dave served as a mediator involving adjudicated claims by the Department of Fair Employment and Housing (“DFEH”).

Outside the courtroom, Dave enjoys working as an advisor to senior management teams, teaching them to be proactive, execute preventive strategies in human resources, and achieve positive and productive workplace environments. He welcomes the opportunity to speak to teams, organizations, and other groups on issues related to employment law, diversity in the workplace, and other aspects of employment matters.

When he’s not working on a case, Dave enjoys taking long-distance motorcycle rides.
